Overview
IELTS fees in India are set by the test administrator you book with (IDP or British Council), not by StudyWhere. As of 2026 the Academic computer-delivered fee is typically in the ₹17,000–18,500 band in most cities, with UKVI usually a few thousand rupees higher, and One Skill Retake charged as a partial re-sit rather than a full test. Treat any exact rupee figure on a blog as stale until you see it on the booking page.
What actually matters
- Academic, General Training and UKVI can have different prices.
- Rescheduling and late-change fees are extra — read the cancellation window before you pay.
- A cheaper 'home' test is not IELTS Academic. Duolingo is a different product.
What the fee does and does not include
The listed fee is the test sitting. Extra TRF copies, enquiry on results, and some speaking-slot changes can cost more. If you only need UKVI because of the visa, paying for generic Academic and then re-sitting UKVI is the expensive mistake — see SELT fees.
